There’s no manual for this.
No one hands you a guide when your world gets turned inside out and you’re suddenly the only one keeping it together for the kids. You just – do it. One day at a time. Sometimes one hour at a time.
That’s what Still Standing is about.
Vol. 01 of The Just A Dad Playbook
pulls together someof my most honest writing – the posts written at midnight, in survival mode, barely holding it together – and turns them into something you can actually use. Not just read. Use.
Each chapter reprints a real, published blog post in full – unedited, voice intact – then pairs it with a toolkit: the core truths from that piece, what actually helped, and a worksheet to move you from reading to thinking (and maybe doing).
There’s also a section in every chapter called My Thoughts – written fresh for this volume, where I look back at each post with some distance and tell you what I know now that I didn’t then.
WHAT’S INSIDE
→ The Bistro – what public loneliness actually feels like when you’re surrounded by people and utterly alone
→ I’m Not Me Anymore – identity after loss; the quiet, irreversible way grief changes you at the core
→ Living in Survival Mode Sucks Balls – what it actually means to be the only one on call, every single time
→ Micro-Grieving – why suppressing it leads to blowing up, and what to do instead
→ Cheers to the End of Survival Living – what the shift out of survival mode actually looks and feels like
Plus reflection prompts, honest checklists, and one commitment line per chapter – because someone has to ask the hard questions.
This isn’t a self-help book. There are no five steps, no morning routines, no toxic positivity.
Just a bloke who’s been through it – and kept going – talking straight to someone who’s in it right now.
If you’re not ready to buy – that’s fine. But you found this place for a reason. ✌️
